Alex Rins will continue racing with the Suzuki Ecstar squad in 2021 and 2022, after extending his contract. Official announcement is expected to be made in the next days prior to the team official unveil on February 6th. 24 year old Rins, who won in Austin and Silverstone last year, finished the 2019 MotoGP championship in 4th place, which aparently convinced Davide Brivio into extending the deal with the young Barcelona rider.
According to Italian media, who presented these news, Joan Mir will remain Rins’ team mate until the end of 2022.
There were some roumours that Ducati, after failing to poach Yamaha riders Maverick Vinales and Fabio Quartararo, was after Rins, so it is no surprise Suzuki mirrored Yamahas strategy in dealing with their riders contracts in record time, even before the first official test of the 2020.
